Repairs and Improvements to the Village Hall
We now have 14 new tables and a table trolley that we purchased with a grant from the East Midlands Airport Community Fund and have re-stocked our kitchen with 40 new dinner plates - so now when we have a village meal we all get the same sized dinner!
The Hall has been completely redecorated, thanks to the Community Payback Scheme, activated as a result of the vandalism in 2007. A new kitchen has been fitted and new floor installed, thanks to money raised from the Arts and Crafts Festival. We now need to improve the toilet area, make a new entrance, and the second phase is to build a Sports Hall. The former will cost about £15,000, and the latter about £200,000. The Parish Council have agreed to support us with the running costs (like the majority of parishes) and grants for the first phase have been submitted.
For Hire
The village hall committee have recently purchased a ‘George’ Vacuum/carpet cleaner which is available for villagers to hire at £20.00 a day (which includes a £10.00 returnable deposit). Hirers will have to provide their own carpet shampoo. Contact Caroline on 01664 840272 if you would like to take advantage of this offer!
