The Women's Institute meets every month, and speakers have told us about a wide variety of subjects, ranging from cookery and gardening to history and travel. In January we have often invited someone in the village to tell us about their job, and in the Summer months we have been on guided walks and visits to places of interest. In May we have always held our Birthday Party; when we usually visit a pub or restaurant. We also have a meal out after Christmas, and a theatre visit has often been arranged.
1181 Syston Squadron Air Training Corps (Air Cadets)
The Air Training Corps (ATC) is a military based youth organisation for 13-20 year olds.
1181 Syston Squadron is based in the grounds of Wreake Valley Community College. We parade on a Monday and Thursday from 19:00 hrs to 21:30 hrs and are actively recruiting cadets and staff.
The cadets get the opportunity to regularly fly, glide, target rifle shoot and take part in other adventurous activities. Please visit the Squadron website or email
